Helping Disadvantaged Children – 14 Days

Vietnam is becoming one of Asia’s premier travel destinations. And its a country that is rich in traditional culture with beautiful landscapes. However, Vietnam is still a poor country and seriously affected by past wars, so there are many children and people who are living in difficult circumstances. You will also experience famous Vietnamese hospitality as you get involved with the community activities to help them. You can join our projects in one of a number of local orphanages/disadvantaged people centers.  You’ll play a valuable role in the overall development of the children/disadvantaged people and your efforts will last long after the sun tan fades!

Day 01: Arrival


Welcome to Vietnam! Today you will be met at the airport and taken directly to the accommodation which will be your home for the duration of your stay in Vietnam. You will have the rest of the day to rest and recover from your journey. If you are feeling adventurous you can head out and start exploring your surroundings!

Day 02: Orientation and free time


Your orientation will take place at the hotel/local office where you’re staying in Hanoi. All new arrivals will have their orientation together, and this will cover important information such as what it’s going to be like on your trip and at the project, dos and don’ts, fun things to do in Vietnam, a language lesson and how to stay safe on your trip. You will also have a walking tour of the city to get you more acquainted with your new home! This is your prime opportunity to ask any burning questions that you haven’t yet had answered and to meet your fellow volunteers!

Day 3: Introductions at your project


Today you’ll be up bright and early for the first day at your project! Today is all about settling in and getting to know your way around. The local team will introduce you to the staff at the orphanage who will be your day-to-day contacts. You’ll spend the rest of the day learning the ropes and starting to get involved with some volunteering.

Day 4 - 5: Time to get involved!


Now’s the time to get stuck in. You’ll be working alongside the full-time Vietnamese staff members and will be involved in a wide variety of tasks depending on the needs of the orphanage. You could be singing and dancing, teaching English, playing games and giving cuddles, or helping with the day to day running of the orphanage. You’ll get out what you put in, so don’t be afraid to use your initiative and get involved!

Day 6: Halong Bay Classic Cruise 2 days (Hanoi – Halong Bay)


You will be picked up from your hotel in Hanoi at 8:00 am for a 3.5hr-hour drive through the Red River Delta to Ha Long City where you will be transferred to the boat. On board you will be given a welcome drink and a cruise briefing and safety instructions. A Vietnamese and international set-menu lunch will be served as soon as you set sail. The cruise stops at the Titop Island where you can go swimming, relax on the beach or climb to the top of the mountain for fantastic views and photo opportunities. You continue to the Bat Cave area where you can either go on a 40-minute kayaking excursion to the nearby lagoon or take a rowing boat to visit the Cua Van floating fishing village. The boat will then sail for about 30 minutes to the Luon Bo area where you will be at anchor overnight. Enjoy a deluxe Vietnamese and Western buffet or set menu dinner followed by evening activities such as a film, board games, playing cards or you can even try the cruise massage services. During Happy Hour you can buy one drink and get one free. Overnight on board.

Day 7: Halong Bay - Hanoi


Early birds can enjoy the sunrise on the sundeck. Coffee, tea and breakfast pastries will be served in the dining room after which you can either visit the famous Surprise Cave or relax onboard the boat. Enjoy a set menu or buffet brunch in the dining room as you cruise back to the harbor. Drive back to your hotel in Hanoi.

Day 8 - 13: Time to get involved!


You’ll be working alongside the full-time Vietnamese staff members and will be involved in a wide variety of tasks depending on the needs of the orphanage. Day 14: Departure


There is no activity planned for today, so you are free to enjoy your time souvenir shopping until you are transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
